Towards a Better Life

Process

The World Data Visualisation Prize is a creative visualisation competition organised by the World Government Summit and Information is Beautiful. This year's prize focused on the past, present and future. How well has the world progressed and improved in recent years? Where do we stand right now and how could we measure that? And what factors and drivers might shape society, government and citizens of the future? We submitted a poster that analysed the quality of life in the Democratic Republic of Congo — one of the poorest countries in the world but also one with loads of potential. Its GDP grew by 271% in the past decades, but is that the full story of the quality of life in the country? What other indicators should we be looking at? We aimed to answer these questions with our design, and are proud to say that we made it to the shortlist of the competition!
